Born and raised in Ft. Wayne, IN, Jonathan grew up wanting to come to Chicago. Jonathan is happily married to Dr. Sharone Shamir Greenberg. They are the proud parents of two boys: Jaron (4) and Adam (born in April of 2011). The Greenbergs live in Northbrook.

Profession (professional and work experience outside politics)

Jonathan spent three years working as a Business Development professional at the Indiana Department of Commerce - bringing new companies and new jobs to the State and helping local companies to grow and expand. He was proud to work for the administration of Lt. Gov. Joe Kernan, a Democrat who Jonathan still considers a mentor.

Civic (past and present organizations, charities involvement)

Jonathan recently left his post at the prestigious and bipartisan American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), where he learned the importance of mission focus and holding fast to core principles.

Religion (current and past religious affiliations, beliefs)

Jonathan was ordained a rabbi in 2006 and is a member of the Reform movement's Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Chicago Board of Rabbis. Jonathan spent his first year of seminary in Jerusalem and lived through the height of the 2002 terror war against Israel.

Jonathan earned a Masters degree in Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science; both from Indiana University.
